6 June 2012: Huge Switch saves more than £1.5 million on UK energy bills
UK consumers who have been feeling the pinch from ever-increasing household bills have managed to save more than £1.5 million pounds collectively from energyhelpline.com’s Huge Switch scheme.
The collective bargaining scheme, which was launched in April and closed on June 1st, helped 8,540 people at final count slash an average of £176 from their energy bills (£131 from their tariff and £45 in cashback).
Energy Secretary Ed Davey praised the Huge Switch for, ““cutting out the hassle, for consumers, of shopping around and switching supplier.”
Mark Todd, director at Energyhelpline.com, said: “It’s great that we’ve been able to help so many consumers save money through our Huge Switch collective bargaining scheme, and all in such a short period of time. In these unsettled economic times it’s clear that the cash poor British public is looking for simple ways that it can cut costs and save money, collective bargaining schemes are certainly one of the ways forward.
“The Huge Switch scheme might have closed but the opportunity to save hundreds of pounds a year on energy bills is not over. Consumers can still shop around through the tried and tested switching process of independent price comparison to get the best deals and save money on their fuel bills. With prices predicted to rise agian later this year, we would highly recommend consumers take a look at fixed tariffs that will promise no price rises for at least 12 months.”
