New to the property?

Mortgages.gif
If you have just moved into your property you may have the following questions:

If I have just moved into a property, will I instantly be tied into the contract that the previous tenants were on?

No, you need to arrange a new contract; otherwise, suppliers will often charge "out of contract" rates which are significantly higher. Many businesses are unaware that they are still on "out of contract" rates, and that not having a contract will cost you more, so you need to find a new supplier as soon as possible. The previous tenants' supplier will continue to supply the property until you request otherwise.

How do I find out who my current supplier is?

For gas, you can contact the xoserve (previously National Grid) helpline on 0870 608 1524 who will tell you who your supplier is.

For electricity, you can contact your local Meter Point Advisory Service (MPAS) on the numbers below.  They will be able to give you the details of your existing supplier.  You should also ask them to give you your 21-digit Supply Number (MPAN)  which looks like this:

                08                  123                  456
    S
                23         0123         0123         456

Watch our video below for more info on MPRN and MPAS numbers.

Please note that your region is not necessarily the same as your supplier. These are Host Regional Electricity Companies who issue your MPAS number.
