A new survey has revealed the majority of adults in the UK do not know how much money they spend on energy.
Electrical supplies distributor Rexel and YouGov carried out research that found just 13 per cent of people are aware how much gas and electricity they use.
A third of respondents admitted they only have a vague idea about how much they spend on energy, with a lack of understanding of bills said to be one of the main reasons why.
Young consumers were found to be the least knowledgeable, with just five per cent of 18 to 24-year-olds aware of their energy usage.
In comparison, 33 per cent of 45-year-olds know exactly how much they owe and 20 per cent of retired people can accurately estimate their bills.
